Solving Electromagnetic Inverse Scattering Problems by SVRMs: a Case of Study Towards Georadar Applications

چکیده

In this paper, an heuristic approach based on Support Vector Regression Machines (SVRMs) is presented in order to solve a simple inverse scattering problem. Interesting results have been obtained, with a remarkable reduction of computational time. Future development of this works will interest the evaluation of the performances of SVRMs for detection of buried objects in stratified media. This is the starting point to develop models for typical Georadar applications. DOI: 10.2529/PIERS060907144915

A General Perturbation Formula for Electromagnetic Fields in Presence of Low Volume Scatterers

In several practically interesting applications of electromagnetic scattering theory like, e.g., scattering from small point-like objects such as buried artifacts or small inclusions in non-destructive testing, scattering from thin curve-like objects such as wires or tubes, or scattering from thin sheet-like objects such as cracks, the volume of the scatterers is small relative to the volume of...

Inverse Acoustic and Electromagnetic Scattering Theory

This paper is a survey of the inverse scattering problem for time-harmonic acoustic and electromagnetic waves at fixed frequency. We begin by a discussion of “weak scattering” and Newton-type methods for solving the inverse scattering problem for acoustic waves, including a brief discussion of Tikhonov’s method for the numerical solution of ill-posed problems. We then proceed to prove a uniquen...

On Inverse Dynamical and Spectral Problems for the Wave and Schrödinger Equations on Finite Trees. the Leaf Peeling

Interest in inverse dynamical, spectral and scattering problems for differential equations on graphs is motivated by possible applications to nano-electronics and quantum waveguides and by a variety of other classical and quantum applications. Recently a new effective leaf peeling method has been proposed by S. Avdonin and P. Kurasov [3] for solving inverse problems on trees (graphs without cyc...

Solving a nonlinear inverse system of Burgers equations

By applying finite difference formula to time discretization and the cubic B-splines for spatial variable, a numerical method for solving the inverse system of Burgers equations is presented. Also, the convergence analysis and stability for this problem are investigated and the order of convergence is obtained. By using two test problems, the accuracy of presented method is verified. Additional...

Fresnel volume georadar attenuation-difference tomography

S U M M A R Y Georadar attenuation-difference tomography is a useful tool for imaging temporal and spatial changes in bulk electrical conductivity due to fluid flow and other subsurface processes. The most common method of attenuation-difference tomography employs the ray approximation where waves are assumed to propagate at infinite frequency. Ray approximation causes significant model error t...
